The Plasma News...
So, Aaron's blog, which he frequently uses for plasma news, "has been flagged as a spam blog by blogger's wonderfully brilliant automated scanners" (quote is his). As a result, I will temporarily be relaying plasma news to the planet (and therefor the world) via my newly syndicated blog.

So, here's the news, in two parts. First, when you search google for plasma, we are now in the top three or four entries returned (depending on whether you are using .com, .ca, .co.uk, etc.) - which is amazing since we're pretty much using a common word. Actually, wikipedia's entry on the state of matter is the only one that seems to consistently come up ahead of us. Plasma is becoming a KDE word.

Secondly, aseigo made up some nice screencasts showing some of form factors within plasma. These videos were taken using the recordmydesktop software (pyqt frontend) which I only recently became aware of due to a comment on the dot. It seems quite a lot nicer than using xvidcap :).

We have available a Hi res (46MB) or torrent and Lower res (19MB) ogg theora versions for those of you that prefer better quality and codecs.

Additionally, I've noticed that the plasma irc channel has been particularly busy over the last few days with people creating the first good prototype plasmoids.

Several mockups have also been floating around, including a few of a system guard plasmoid courtesy of some UI students known by JohnFlux. Check them out on youtube here and here. These are mockups, but it should all be possible using various combinations of SVG and plasma :)
